The National Theater of Albania (Teatre Kombetar) was once known as the Kosovo Movie Theater, but now the venue serves as the Tirana’s and the nation’s hub of fine arts presentation. It is here that some of the world’s most famous playwrites, composers, actors, and other performers have intrigued Albanian audiences since the 1930’s.
Of special note for the theater’s reach into the culture of Tirana, the children’s theater aspect is of special importance. Hamlet, King Lear, and on to some of the most innovative and cutting edge modern shows, The National Theater of Albania is truly one of Tirana’s treasures.
