Shpella e Trenit (Cave of Tren) – a carstic cave, declared a Geo-Monument – is one of the most beautiful natural attractions nearby Korçë, a cave of rare natural and historical value. The cave offered important evidence of the continuity of life in the area (weapons, working instruments, beauty accessories) during different historic ages. Among the nature values, the cave boasts notable invertebrate fauna including Plathelminthes, Nematoda, Mollusca, Oligochaeta, Acarina, Araneida, Myriapoda, Crustacea and Insecta. The most notable feature though, is that the cave is a habitat for numerous kinds of bats, some of which being endemic of Prespa region alone. The cave was discovered in 1952, in the south eastern part of Lake Prespa.
